It is a given that the Que Mardi Gras will take place during the month of March, but you have to wait to find out what the theme will be for the popular event.
This year’s theme was The Mad Hatter Mardi Gras and the crowd was encouraged to wear hats, lids, a “sky piece” if you will, and that they did. Everyone has a hat of some type a baseball cap, fedora, church hat or that sombrero you picked up in Mexico.
For those who did not have a hat or forgot to wear a hat there were hats for sale, even ones that lit up. There was a most unique hat contest and a prize for the best decorated table.
Deejay Nate the Phat Barber kept the crowd on their feet in the main room while Flo Wilson and Old School Band headlined in the Omega Soul Lounge.
The fun filled evening was presented by the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. The proceeds of the Que Mardi Gras assist with Omega Psi Phi community programs such as the Historical Black College tour, scholarships, Thanksgiving baskets and mentoring.
