FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) _ A Harley-Davison dealership has withdrawn its invitation to bikers who planned to meet at its Fort Washington location ahead of a Washington rally organized by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
The dealership’s owners had agreed to let bikers to gather at the location Oct. 10 before a “Ride for Justice” rally into Washington D.C. ahead of a march associated with the 20th anniversary of the Nation of Islam’s “Million Man March.” The dealership changed its stance following backlash, including an online petition condemning Farrakhan for advocating violence.
Farrakhan has said the upcoming march, “Justice or Else,” is intended to galvanize a more strategic movement for equality. The 1995 march was billed as a men-only event intended to encourage black men to commit to family values and improving their communities.
