All I can say is I’m impressed and I plan to order one for Christmas. I will test it and get back to you on what I think. I might invite some others over for a taste test and while we are at it we will taste a few Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pies; if I can find one. Thanks to Facebook, I found out that her pies are for sale in Walmart and as of this writing the pies are sold out. Maybe I can go and get the Patti LaBelle cookbook and make my own pie or just find my mother’s recipe and make one.
Thanks to social media, Patti’s pies are a big hit. There is a very large man on YouTube eating the pie and signing Patti’s songs, they showed this on Inside Edition. What a good endorsement. I’ve heard mixed reviews and I’m anxious to weigh in.
Knowing how to cook is not as important as it used to be, most grocery stores will sell you a complete Thanksgiving meal and all you have to do is set the table. In most cases, nothing beats a home cooked meal unless you run into that person who just can’t cook. You know what’s sad? A person who thinks they can cook, but really can’t. The food looks real good, but tastes awful.
I always thought if you could read you should be able to cook. That is how I learned, by reading cookbooks, watching my mother and father, and trial and error. And let me not forget Home Economics class. I wish I had the recipes from that class. I learned to make a dessert in that class that my dad just loved. He complimented me on the flakiness of the crust and the flavor.
As they say, those were the good old days. Now all you need is a website and a credit card and you can put together a good meal. No worries about burning the house down with the turkey fryer, just open the box put the turkey in the oven and you’re golden.
