Lifestyles Report…You’re not my friend

We are getting close to year-end, so this might be a good time to trim down your friend list. Get rid of those friends that don’t speak to you when they see you in person, and those people who you can’t remember where you know them from or why you accepted their friend request. Don’t get me wrong, I like Facebook and social media sites are the new way to share information quickly, like funeral arrangements, good news and bad news. You can see a friend’s vacation pictures or wedding pictures, and it is almost like being there without the expense.
One thing I don’t like to do on Facebook is accept requests for coverage. If you want an event covered, please continue to send me an email with “request for coverage” in the subject line and please send in a timely fashion.
Now that we are talking about emails, you don’t have to open all emails. This too is another way the fraudsters hack into your account or your computer. Sometimes the subject line will say things like hey, hello, want to hook up, I have your money. Now, that last one just might grab you. Did I loan someone some money and now they have it? You open the email, click on the link and it’s all over. Put those emails in your spam folder. Keep more than one email account. One can be for business and the other personal. When you order things online you can create an email account for that as well because you know as soon as you order something your inbox will be flooded with emails from other merchants.
Speaking of merchants, this is the big shopping season. When you are out shopping, do not carry unnecessary credit cards and debit cards in your wallet. The thieves are out there trying to separate you from your money and please, whatever cards you have do put in your wallet, keep a log of them in a safe place at home just in case you have to report it lost or stolen.
