The entire student body of Cornerstone Schools and Cornerstone Academies will be the first recipients in Detroit of Give Will, a program established by Will Leather Goods designed to support students in underfunded schools across America through in-kind backpack donations. Each Cornerstone student in grades K – 12, totaling about 3,000 students, will receive a specially-designed Give Will backpack. Each bag includes a space for the child to write his/her future aspirations, with the backpack intended to serve as a, “bag to carry your dreams.”

Will Adler, founder and creative director of Will Leather Goods, who recently opened a legacy store in Midtown Detroit, will make the donation at two school assemblies, where he will address and inspire students on staying motivated and working hard to achieve goals.

WHY:                    Will Leather Goods’ social initiative, Give Will, was founded on the belief that every child deserves a bag to carry their dreams. Adler, whose philanthropic mission is central to the company’s culture, designed a capsule collection of backpacks especially for the program, and each colorful bag features a space for students to write both their name and their dream, to act as a reminder to keep working toward their goals. Over the next five years, WLG has committed to donating 500,000 backpacks across the U.S.
