The Lifestyles Gift Guide 2015

The Lifestyles Report Gift Guide is back in a new format. This year I went to friends to find out what they wanted for Christmas. I asked them to select a fantasy gift, and something rather conservative or traditional. I’ve also added a few gifts from my highly recommended list. I love books and I’m suggesting two for your reading pleasure. My suggestion, for those of you who have not finished your shopping, is please don’t try and buy the most expensive or impressive gift. Give someone something that you know they might really use or cherish. Perhaps a beautiful wreath for their door or decorations for their outdoors, and then go and help put them up. I can guarantee you that each time they turn them on they will think of you. Meet this year’s gift guide contributors, next year it just may be you.

Would like world peace.
Terri White
“Honestly there isn’t a (practical and tangible) item that I really WANT…if someone wanted to get me something it should be a gift certificate towards something I NEED (like new carpet, air duct cleaning, pet grooming etc.) To me it says they are actually paying attention to what I’m going through in life the other 364 days of the year.” Hey Terri, I think an Angie’s List subscription would be perfect for you.
Friends’ favorite jazz songs for Gail Biggs Jackson Brooks

Gail Biggs Jackson Brooks
Would like to know her friends’ favorite jazz songs so she can make a CD of her friend’s music.
LaRue Graves
“That Jesus would help just one community of Black folk—on the level that he helps White folks—somewhere around this world.”
Anonymous BFF would like a “good, Black, unmarried man.”
My early Christmas gifts were two books that I just love. The are, “Strayhorn An Illustrated Life” forward by Ramsey Lewis and “Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story” by J. Randy Taraborrelli.
