Here I am again with another “it saves to read” story.
I’m in vacation planning mode and I’m excited to be going to Las Vegas. I haven’t been there in a long time. I don’t go just to gamble, I love the shows, the shopping and the beautiful hotels. I’ll be going on a Southwest Vacation and with that in mind I thought how smart it would be to pay for the vacation with a Southwest gift card. I run to my local Giant Eagle and buy hundreds of dollars of gift cards to cover the cost. I felt so proud, paying cash for the trip and getting fuel perks as well. I log in to pay for the trip and key in the numbers. They were rejected even though I picked the gift card payment option. I made a few phone calls and found that the gift cards can only be used for airfare not a Southwest vacation. My head is now ready to pop off there are only two seats left on the flight that I need to be on. Fortunately they allowed me to make a reservation and gave me until 6 p.m. that day to pay for it with a credit card.
So what do I do with the gift cards that I now find are FINAL SALE? Head now pops off and lands on floor. I pick my head up and try to stay calm. I had to file a dispute with the grocery store and wait for the results. As of today I don’t have an answer about my money. By the way once you buy the gift card and remove it from the cardboard in the small print on the back it says that the card cannot be used for a Southwest Vacation nor can it be used for inflight “stuff.” Please Southwest I really like you as an airline but you need to put on the front of that gift card package “cannot be used for Southwest Vacations.”
Now on to something more pleasant. If you read me and know me you know that I am an Amos and Andy fan. I recently got an email that I planned to delete but then I said this might be worth reading. It was from a company that sells the whole series of Amos and Andy episodes on DVD. I looked at the site, read some reviews and it seemed safe. I just got an email that the package has been shipped. I have been holding on to my Amos and Andy on VHS for years, now I can watch them all whenever I want.
I would like to give a big shout out to my friend Margaret Washington, she stopped me the other day in the grocery store and told me if I was still looking for the Bill Cosby series that I could buy them at Dorsey’s on Frankstown Avenue. Cosby and Amos and Andy that is a double yippee.
So readers, read the fine print and read before you delete.
