
The graduate awards were presented by Ryan Scott, M.Ed., BMLDI co-director, Chester Thompson, D.Sc., BMLDI co-director, and Dean Richards, BMLDI program director. Six young men received the coveted BMLDI jacket that is given to those that excelled in the program. Jackets were presented to Ramir Burks, Aqaveon Jackson, Spencer Jackson, Robert Smith, Justin Stewart and Tre’Von Swan. The graduates repeated the BMLDI Pledge and Life Charge, and enjoyed a reception catered by Roxanne’s Soul Food Expressions.

BMLDI is a program that brings African American boys in grades 9 to 12 together to participate in a year-long program that provides educational and leadership opportunities. During the 12-month program, the group met Congressman John Lewis, Barack and Michelle Obama and spent a week at Robert Morris University.
