Mayor Andre Dickens, Atlanta Hawks, State Farm Unveils 12th Good Neighbor Club

The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm teamed up to unveil a newly renovated and multi-functional Good Neighbor Club, this time at the Pittman Park Recreation Center in Atlanta’s historic Pittsburgh neighborhood. The space marks the 12th Good Neighbor Club opened through the ongoing partnership between the Hawks, State Farm, and the City of Atlanta.

The unveiling event, held on June 6, featured appearances from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Councilmember Antonio Lewis, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Justin Cutler, Don Bright, Vice President of Operations, P&C Claims, State Farm, David Lee, Executive Vice President of External Affairs and Executive Director, Atlanta Hawks Foundation, and Jon Babul, Vice President of Community Impact and Basketball Programs, Atlanta Hawks.

Mayor Andre Dickens spoke passionately about the impact the space will have on local youth and the larger community:

“This is an amazing collaboration with the Hawks, State Farm, and the Department of Parks and Recreation in this great neighborhood at Pittman Park and the Pittsburgh community,” said Mayor Dickens. “This is a historic neighborhood. A lot of the people here have gone on to become people that contribute greatly to our city, and now these kids get an opportunity to thrive.”

Mayor Dickens highlighted that the updated teen room not only serves as a place for recreation but as a hub for learning, mentorship, and entrepreneurship.

“Yes, we have ballparks and ball courts, but now we also have high technology where they can learn skills, explore technology, and discover how to become entrepreneurs,” he continued. “This is quite important for our summer initiatives, ensuring young people have somewhere productive and inspiring to go.”

As part of the unveiling event, teens had the opportunity to hear from creative industry professionals and participated in hands-on sessions where they customized their own apparel and explored content creation. These interactive elements are key to the Good Neighbor Club’s mission: combining recreation with learning, innovation, and future-ready skills.

The Pittman Park location joins a growing list of Good Neighbor Clubs across Metro Atlanta, including recent additions like the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center. Each location reflects a shared commitment between the Hawks and State Farm to invest in youth development, community resources, and educational opportunities.

For many in the Pittsburgh neighborhood, the Good Neighbor Club is a symbol of investment in the future and a testament to what’s possible when public and private partners come together to uplift local communities.
