On Saturday, September 20 at 1 PM for a dynamic panel discussion featuring Dr. Amalia Amaki, esteemed professor, acclaimed visual artist, and thought leader in African American art, and Anne Collins Smith, art historian, curator, and faculty member at Spelman College where she served as Curator of Collections and Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, and is currently Chief Curator at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Moderated by Halima Taha, Artistic Director of Hammonds House Museum, this inspiring conversation will illuminate the networks of mentorship, scholarship, and activism that have nurtured generations of artists and celebrate how Black Zeitgeist, and its community partners, continue to shape Atlanta’s vibrant arts ecosystem. The curators will also reflect on their collaboration for the museum’s Black Zeitgeist exhibition, the legacy of artistic innovation, and the creative power that has defined Atlanta as a national center for Black visuals arts and culture.
